Demining in Cooperation with MECHEM PTY
The Goren-Kidon & MECHEM collaboration, Mine Clearing Initiatives, holds enormous knowledge and experience in its fields of expertise.
The collaboration’s employees are highly skilled and trained personnel, with their experience gainedthrough many missions around the globe in humanitarian projects run by UN branches, NGOs and commercial companies for civilian projects (SOPs) meeting the oil and gas industry’s requirements for survey and clearance projects.
The collaboration develops and plans future projects for demining in Israel and around the world as well as BAC (battle area clearance) and other security oriented projects.
MECHEM had its origins as the Applied Chemistry Unit (ACU) of the CSIR (Counsel for Scientific and Industrial Research of South Africa) tasked with research and development of mechanical and chemical solutions to defence related problems giving way to the name MECHEM.
The cessation of the border war in the 1980’s saw MECHEM changing its focus from largely R&D to demining and started commercial demining in 1991. MECHEM is a subsidiary of Denel (Pty) Ltd and wholly owned by South African government.
